Funded 32 School Resource Officers

In partnership with Jackson-Madison County School System and the Sheriff’s Department, the administration facilitated placement of specially trained school resource officers to ensure armed security at each Madison County school to enhance student safety.

Announced over $1.7 Billion in Industrial Investment

The administration’s strategic recruitment efforts led to $1.741 billion in announced industrial investment, creating more than 2,000 new high-paying jobs in Madison County. One highlight includes 6K Energy’s $230 million investment and the creation of 220 jobs, with plans to break ground in 2026.

Opened the New $48 Million Pope Elementary School

 Pope Elementary opened in time for the fall 2025 semester with no additional debt required to complete the project. The facility includes a community tornado safe room.

Keep Taxes Low and Drive Down the Cost of Living

No New Taxes

Fiscal responsibility has been a central focus of Mayor AJ Massey’s administration. Working closely with county departments, the administration lowered spending and came in an average of $4.5 million under budget each of the last four years. At the same time, county employees received raises, and the county continued investing in the community—without raising taxes.

No New Debt

Pope Elementary was built, major equipment was purchased for Madison County Fire, Emergency Management Agency, and Sheriff’s Department, all without increasing taxes or creating new debt. Under Mayor Massey’s leadership, Madison County has taken on zero debt.

Reduced County Debt by More Than $33 Million

The administration aggressively paid down debt by an average of $11 million per year, reducing total county debt from $107 million to $74 million in less than four years.

Committed $12 Million to Road Improvements in 2025

The administration resurfaced major arterial roads, including Riverside Drive, Ashport Road, Waynick Road, Christmasville Road, and Bakers Chapel Road. Improvements were also made across many of Madison County’s 700 miles of roadway, guided by a comprehensive strategic road repair plan.

Created $19+ Million in New Interest Revenue

In partnership with the County Commission, Mayor Massey led the creation of an Investment Committee composed of Mayor Massey, Trustee Burkhead, and Finance Director Sellers. The committee conservatively invested county funds to generate over 19 million dollars in new revenue. This amount is a 313% increase in interest revenue compared to the previous four years.

Grew Madison County Park Acreage by 65%

Quality of life is another focus of Mayor Massey’s administration. Over the last four years, Madison County’s public park property grew from 330 acres to over 500 acres at no cost to the taxpayers.

Invested in Significant Park Improvements at Pope and Pugh Bourne Parks

Mayor Massey’s administration delivered improvements with new playgrounds, ADA accessible equipment, repaved and striped parking lots, new pavilions, and renovated ball fields.

Created New Parks in Denmark and Beech Bluff

The administration invested in quality of life throughout our county. Talley Park in Denmark is currently under construction and will serve the surrounding community. David Smith Park in Beech Bluff is open and features an ADA-accessible playground and picnic pavilion.
